Tips for Measuring & Size Selection

ALWAYS take measurements while wearing the undergarments that will be worn with this dress or gown (and nothing else). Changing underwear changes your measurements and will change the way the dress fits.  Do not measure over other clothing (or the dress will be sized correctly to fit you while wearing that clothing!).

Take snug measurements but do not indent. Use a standard measuring tape. Do not measure over fingers.

Bust and hip measurements should be taken over the fullest part.  Waistline measurement is at the natural waistline (roughly the area of the naval).

Everyone should plan on having their special occasion attire altered to perfect the fit.

Figures for measuring and size selection of your Prom or Pageant Gown

  • Select the size that will accommodate all your measurements - never order a size with measurements smaller than your own.
  • Adding a full petticoat (rather than a flat slip) underneath or ordering with additional crinoline will make a dress appear to be shorter.  Allow at 3-6" for a moderate petticoat.

REMEMBER:  A dress can always be shortened or taken in when you receive it but it cannot be let out or lengthened.  Be honest about taking your measurements and selecting a size -- and remember --  if you order too small, you are stuck.  If you order too big, you can have it altered to fit.
